The Essex Art Club has been in existence since 1899 and can therefore claim to be one of the oldest continuing art associations in the country. Based mainly in Wanstead, on the border of London and Essex, we have a membership of approximately 130 enlisted from a wide area of Essex and East London.
The club consists of a wide range of membership from amateur, leisure, recreational and professional artists, painting and exhibiting a rich and diverse range of subjects, style and media.
Our current and past presidents and vice-presidents have included internationally renowned artists such as Alfred Munnings, Frank Dobson, Frank Brangwyn, John Nash, Walter Spradbery, Ken Howard and Tom Coates.
In addition to at least two annual exhibitions, our members enjoy regular demonstrations by a variety of specialists and monthly painting sessions.. We encourage all members to participate but also welcome any newcomers whether they are practising artists or simply interested in the arts.
